Jesus’s Intern
The world is so different to me. I don;t live much in it. I live from Heaven, and I highly recommend that. However, you must know, that when you do, you will indeed be tested. The fires of hell will hunt you, but Jesus will extinguish them. He is a conqueror. Even when we fall, and skin our knees, He is a victor. HE keeps on going and HE alone can win the race. So, who are we? What is our purpose exactly?
The disciples, were a lot like interns. Here is the definition of intern.
-
1.a student or trainee who works, sometimes without pay, at a trade or occupation in order to gain work experience.dis·ci·pledəˈsīpəl/noun
-
a personal follower of Jesus during his life, especially one of the twelve Apostles.
Do you see the difference? JESUS
He is the KEY, and only HE makes the difference in our hearts.
I watched a movie yesterday, with one of our kids. We were out, celebrating my birthday. I really wanted to watch this movie, but something drew me away. It was crazy to get there. We were late, and I was seriously exhausted. Yet, I was the only driver, and for various reasons, could not go home. I had no choice, but to just keep going. To keep riding the wave of Heaven, on earth. Despite, how it felt to my flesh. So, I kept going, ONLY by the Grace of God.
Why? Because, my first job is a disciple of my KING. I am a holy intern. I work through Jesus, and with HIM. Often, it is not one or the other, but both. I constantly have to surrender my expectations, of everything. Because, if not, then I can become a hindrance to God, and not a blessing. That is not to say, I stopped being loved or cherished. Because, He will always LOVE me. ALL good parents LOVE their kids. But, in that LOVE often comes discipline.
Interning For Jesus
I was thinking of when Jesus was in the boat. The storm was ALL around HIM. He slept. I had a similar experience just today. Now, getting to sleep, was a feat, but finally I slept. I did not just REST I was able to sleep in peace. I knew and KNOW that my God, and boss has everything covered. Does that mean I never react in a negative way? I would love to say no. But, to be honest, sometimes I do. What I also do, is go to HIM about it.
He then remind me, “My Grace is sufficient for you. My power is perfected in your weakness.” So, by now you have probably guessed, that the movie we saw, was “Intern.” This film was really tough for me to watch, in parts. God has a habit of sending me, and us to films that contain our life. I suppose to prepare us, for the day when the story, that is ours, is ON that screen. The movie, primarily was about an older intern, who has to adjust.
He gets paired with a boss, with a VERY type A personality. Many of us have experienced this before. In my case, my husband was that way, before we married. Even now, that tried to rear it’s ugly head. But, I have seen God change his heart. My husband, since our youngest daughter passed, has not been the same. Neither have I, but his has been very different. When something like that happens, eventually we have to come out. We have to take Jesus’s hand together, and move forward.
Back to the movie. It was tough for me, because the man who was her intern, was like a dad. My dad went home o Heaven, 4 weeks after our daughter. I miss him. As I watched the film, I realized how much. But, yet, it gave me hope. As I watched LOVE tear down walls. It encouraged me, yet drained me. Have you ever experienced that? Life is not perfect. AS “interns and disciples” of Jesus, perfection is not guaranteed, right away. But, it is a promise, eventually. How much are we willing to learn? How much are we willing to grow? How much are we willing to consider?
These are questions, that Jesus is asking us. Just being a COG, qualifies us for the JOB. But, to do it well, requires surrender, receiving HIS LOVE, Grace, Mercy, Peace, Hope, and all the good things. THE GOD STUFF, the gifts and blessings. They come and came at a HIGH price indeed. So, are you ready, to say NO to everything but Jesus?
In His Grace and Glory,
E and Fam
